A Privileged Environment

 

 

Domaine de Canta Rainette is located in La Motte en Provence, not far from Draguignan. A typical Var village, famous for its historical past (1st Provence village liberated in 1944), La Motte en Provence is also famous for its winegrowing tradition.

Located just outside the village, at the foot of Mottoise hill and at the edge of the Esclans valley, Domaine de Canta Rainette spreads its vines in this calm, very special, setting.

Along with the tranquillity and colour of the seasons, the Domaine offers a unique view over the Rocher de Roquebrune, a landmark well-known to hikers.

A unique Terroir and Climate

At the heart of the Côtes de Provence appellation sector, on gentle slopes facing South / Southeast, our Domaine benefits from all of Provence’s climatic and geological advantages. Flooded with sunlight and windswept by the Mistral wind, the vines thrive on this harsh clay-limestone soil, so demanding in terms of toil and abnegation, but so generous in terms of personality in the final product.

A Family Business

In the family since 1958, the Domaine is a family establishment that has been passed down through generations. In 1990, Edouard and Denise Castellino, joined today by their sons Mathieu and Christophe, followed the family tradition, but broungt in profound transformation. Historically, the grapes were brought to the wine growers’ cooperative, but the new owners soon decided to create their own winery in order to develop wines that met their taste and expectations.
In 2000, the Castellino Family launched Domaine de Canta Rainette.

The name Canta Rainette comes from the little green frogs who have made the domaine’s natural pool their home, and who every evening, at dusk, perform their peaceful concerto. The Rainette (tree frog in English) thus became the Queen of the Domaine, that today covers 30 acres.

A Modern Winery

To produce quality wines under optimal conditions, in 2006 the Domaine developed a bigger and more functional winery. We vinify all of our production here at the Domaine in the cellar’s thermoregulated stainless steel fermenting room. All bottling is done on the production site, a mark of authenticity.
